My awesome critique group, Courtyard Critiques, is a small group looking for 1-2 new members. We welcome all genres of YA/MG fiction. Our meetings are currently every other Thursday at 10:00 AM at/or near members homes in the Greater Boston Area. Meeting locations are T/bus accessible, some with a 10 minute walk from the T stop. Carpooling is available if you live within reasonable distance of a member with a car.

Please email me for more information. A short (2-3 page) writing sample is required.

The Mysterious Howling by Maryrose Wood

I absolutely loved this book! I kept stopping to read things out loud to my husband and even recommended it to people before I was even close to done with the book.

The story is about a 15 year old girl hired to be the governess for three unruly, rambunctious children who were found in the forest and ostensibly raised by wolves. Part silly slapstick comedy (with howling children) and part English mansion/governess tale, this book was so much better than many of the other books I’ve seen it compared to.

I have to check out the next book in the series!

I’m taking a break from twitter and my blog for much needed writing and recharging time. This means, I won’t be updating the BosKidLit calendar for a while. I’ll be back next month sometime!
